Tasting- Morro Bay White Oak Estates Chardonnay

Date of Tasting: Thursday, February 16, 2012
Variety: Chardonnay (100%)
Region: Lodi (Central Coast, CA)
Country: United States
Year: 2009
Price: $5.95
Shop Review: Vanilla cream soda nose with a slice of of fresh cut pineapple. Full body, tropical fruit, spice and pleasing vanilla oak note linger in the finish. Sweet flavor on the palate is from sur-lie aging the wine on the primary yeast lees for 7 months. A versatile style of wine that can be served chilled with fine cuisine or a glass with friends.
My Review: Citrusy notes on the nose, with a little bit of lemon. Nice flavors of grapefruit and caramel on the palate, with good acid. Finishes very clean, but not very satisfying. Can't beat the price though if you are just drinking for fun.
